The Wisdom of Solomon
(1 Kings 3:5~28) ¡ç ShiftÅ°¸¦ ´©¸£½Ã°í Ŭ¸¯ÇÏ½Ã¸é ¼º°æÀ» º¸½Ç ¼ö ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù.
¡°Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.¡± (Psalm 127:3 , NKJV)
My heart goes out to those couples who desire children
but are unable to bear. Many wait for years before adoption is possible.
Meanwhile, many other children never see the light of day due to abortion.
The problem is magnified by the ease of abortion
and the difficulty of adoption.
We would welcome the wisdom of Solomon in solving this dilemma.
\r\nGod¡¯s wisdom was the cause of saving the baby in our reading
and of giving the child to a loving mother.
Two women (harlots) were fighting over the remaining child.
The wise king¡¯s decision to divide the living baby quickly determined
the identity of the real mother (3:26).
\r\nThe suffering of so many unwanted children in the world
must bring tears to the eyes of the One who said
¡°Suffer (let) the little children come to me, and do not forbid them;
for of such is the kingdom of heaven¡± (Matthew 19:14).
\r\nThe wisdom of Solomon from God is further seen in the good advice
he gives his son in Proverbs. As parents we, too,
need the wisdom to train up our children in the way they should go,
as God advises.
\r\nI saw tomorrow look at me, from little children¡¯s eyes,
And thought how carefully we¡¯d teach if we were really wise.
Heavenly Father, may we, as parents, love
and care for our children as You do for Yours.
What a beautiful challenge given me.
In Jesus¡¯ name. Amen.
